"The staff is friendly, helpful, and personable. I felt like our concerns were heard, procedures explained in a way we could understand. Doctor Quickert's no-nonsense approach was refreshing after having not-so-great treatment from others. We felt instantly comfortable and informed after our very first visit."
Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)
Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Treatment: Helping Your Body Heal to Reduce Pain
Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is a concentration of platelets made from a small amount of your blood. It is applied directly to the bone and soft tissue injuries and conditions like plantar fasciitis and osteoarthritis to help:
- Accelerate healing
- Reduce bleeding
- Minimize pain
- Reduce the chance of infection
Overview of PRP Therapy
"I had to have my right knee drained of fluid every 3 months. Not only from arthritis but I suffered from gout also.
After Dr. Quickert did the stem cell procedure on my knee and right thumb, I was completely free from pain and have been over 3 months. God bless this doctor! And his knowledge!
I can walk great now and back to normal. Love telling my friends and different ones about the stem cell procedure. It is the coming thing for quick relief!
I have given Dr. Quickert’s name and phone number to several people so they can come for help. Also, my son will be coming to him very soon. Love this doctor!"
About PRT Therapy
PRP therapy is a non-surgical procedure that treats the underlying cause of pain. A PRP treatment can be applied topically or as an injection in and around injured tissues to help accelerate healing and relieve acute or chronic pain from conditions including, but not limited to:
- Plantar fasciitis
- Meniscus tears
- Ligament sprains
- Rotator cuff tears
- Chronic back pain
A PRP treatment involves taking a small sample of your blood and processing it using a centrifuge to separate the plasma from the red blood cells. We then further process the plasma to concentrate the number of platelets.
What are Platelets?
Platelets are a natural part of your body’s healing process and are responsible for stimulating tissue repair and regeneration. The platelets contain naturally occurring growth factors that, in their concentrated form, speed up your body’s healing process when applied to an injury. Because the platelets are a natural part of your own blood, there is no risk for disease transmission or immune reaction with a PRP treatment.
The growth factors in platelets are responsible for:
- Soft tissue repair
- Bone regeneration
- Developing new blood vessels
- Stimulating your body’s wound healing process
By applying the platelets in a concentrated form – 4 to 6 times greater than what is typically found in your blood – we can help your injury heal faster than it would on its own.
What to Expect
The entire PRP therapy process takes about an hour. You may notice the effects of the treatment in about a week, although it usually takes about six to eight weeks for the treatment to take full effect. You may require three to four treatments to receive the complete benefits of PRP and return to your normal, active lifestyle without pain.
Doctors have been using PRP therapy for years to help their patients heal faster and reduce their pain with many successful results. To help determine if a PRP treatment will help advance healing in your situation, please contact us for an appointment or to get more information.
